Cleanup on Aisle Six: Kamala Says She’s Ready to Blow Home Invaders Away

You have feel for the Harris/Walz campaign staff. Any time they allow Kamala to break containment and get in front of a questioner without a script — even one as friendly as Oprah Winfrey — they know they’ll have their work cut out for them. Last night was no different.

The campaign arranged a “town hall” appearance with Oprah and a carefully selected crowd tossing what should have been softballs at the Veep. One of the biggest bumps in the event came when the subject of Kamala’s gun ownership was raised. Oprah expressed surprise to learn that Madame Vice President is a gun owner. Then this happened.

The only thing that’s surprising here is that she had enough self-awareness to realize that she’d stepped in it by endorsing armed self-defense. After blurting out her willingness to blow away any home invader she may encounter in her home, Harris caught herself . . .

I probably should not have said that. My staff will deal with that later.

This kind of admission, of course, is nothing new. While Democrats always bend the knee and rotely mouth all of the right anti-gun platitudes when working from a script, what they actually do themselves where their persona safety is concerned is very different. Think about Joe Biden and Jill’s shotgun. It’s yet another example of guns for me, but not for thee.

Harris, though, has now gone even further. One of the primary tenets of the gun control industry has been that merely having a gun in your home increases your likelihood of injury, death, or being victimized. However, just like her disturbingly emotive running mate, Harris has made a thing of her gun ownership…all the better to reassure low-information types that she totally won’t come after their guns.

Last night she took things even further. By declaring her willingness to shoot any intruders, she not only repeated her endorsement of gun ownership for self-defense, but also the castle doctrine.

Don’t worry though. The Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex isn’t about to pull a Teamsters move and withhold their endorsement from the Veep, certainly not this late in the game. Besides, they know good and well where she really stands on topics like an “assault weapons” ban 2.0, universal background checks, red flag laws and more. These little Kinsley gaffes probably don’t worry them in the least. And if the Harris’s campaign staff has to make a few calls to reassure them, that’s just the cost of doing business.

  1. *News Flash*

The Teamsters DECLINED to endorse anyone for president, after a member straw poll indicated they supported Trump by 60 percent.

It must be embarrassing to be a Teamster these days…

    1. Mrs Haz and I were talking about that last night, and how certain pollsters such as Nate Silver place Cackala’s actual approval numbers at about half of what the MSM says they are. The loss of the Teamsters’ support speaks volumes.

      1. I suspect you are correct about real support numbers, but I also suspect that the DNC has 3 or 4 layers of fixes in place in case things aren’t going their way Tuesday evening.

A neighbor of mine likes to hit the casino every now and then. A couple weeks ago, he placed 500 on Harris to win, just so he would get at least something out of it if she does. Me, I filled the propane tank and laid in another pile of ammo.

      2. It’s difficult to account for cheating when looking at stats. Trump wins a fair election which is why they don’t want a fair election. Fair elections are a threat to democracy.

    2. It should’ve been embarrassing as far back as NAFTA but like any other hive mind running on tradition change comes slowly.

“…ya have what Kamala is willing to do for votes.”

I wouldn’t want those cackling lips anywhere near my massive member…

      (A boy can dream, can’t he? 😉 )

  2. Anyone she may be trying to reach with a comment like this is not watching these interviews so by saying stuff like this all she does is simultaneously make her supporters cringe and give them some limp ammunition to use when a non-supporter mentions she’s after the 2nd which almost never happens anyway because her supporters live in ideologically sterile bubbles.

In short a complete waste of time and breath.

  3. Owning a gun doesn’t mean a person is pro 2A. There are plenty of folk saying they support the 2A and then throw in “but”.
When L E Os et al say, “I support the second amendment but”, my response is, there ain’t no “but” in the 2A but I do see a “butt” in front of me.
