What’s become the standard strategy for gun makers is to introduce a small, easy-carry 9mm microcompact and then expand the range with bigger and higher capacity models. Back in 2022, Savage rolled out the Savage Stance, a now discontinued modular single stack nine that held seven plus one rounds. It was a good gun, but with popular double-stacks micros like the P365, Hellcat, Shield Plus, Reflex and others that held at least 10+1, it was a tough sell.
Today, however, Savage has announced the new Stance model, the Stance XR. It’s modular double-stack optic-ready micro nine that ships with both 10- and 13-round magazines. The Stance XR makes Savage competitive in the hottest-selling segment of the concealed carry handgun market.
Here’s their press release . . .
Savage Arms, an iconic firearm manufacturer, has expanded its Stance family of pistols with the all-new Stance XR. Designed for everyday carry applications, it is built to be as functional in the hand as it is easy to conceal.
Chambered in 9mm, the Stance XR micro pistol from Savage Arms has all the features and functions of the Stance, now with an expanded capacity of 13+1 and a quick-release optics (QRO) plate. The QRO plate allows shooters to quickly change optics and outfit the pistol in a way that suits them best.
“The Stance XR adds another reliable and versatile everyday carry pistol to our lineup,” said Beth Shimanski, Director of Marketing at Savage Arms. “With its increased capacity and the ability to easily attach different optics, the Stance XR offers enhanced functionality and customization options to meet the needs of our customers.”
Standout features of the Stance XR include its ambidextrous magazine release and slide catch, allowing for quick and effortless operation for both right and left-handed shooters. The stippling grip texture ensures a secure fit in the hand, providing a 360-degree grip with finger indexing. Additionally, the pistol comes with two interchangeable backstraps, offering the ability to adjust the grip size to individual preferences. Other key features include:
·Short, crisp trigger with a short reset and wide, well-rounded face
·3.2” stainless steel barrel
·Removable chassis to allow interchangeable grips
·Easy takedown with takedown lever, no trigger pull or tool needed for disassembly
·Snag-free functional sights
·Ambidextrous manual safety
·Steel slide with a beveled front
·Ported, wide slide serrations for enhanced grip
·Night sight models available
·Comes standard with two magazines and a hard case
Savage Arms continues to expand its diverse offering of reliable, specialized firearms with the introduction of the Stance XR micro pistol. I have a Savage Stance and it is back at Savage having the Mim striker replaced! They basically bought Honor Defense, whom were basically litigated out of business. Savage Arms has no parts schematic for the Stance, why? Neither did Honor Defense. I know mimmed parts can be durable, ie Glock. Savage needs to step it up, they need to update the non-captive RSA and make parts available to the public. I think the Stance CAN be a good carry gun if Savage does what is needed. Come on Savage!
