We’ve always been among the group that shudders when we hear the term “women’s gun.” That’s because that so often seems to mean a pink snubbie. Or an AR in “muddy girl” camo. Or whatever this is.
We also react that way because all the women shooters we know wouldn’t be caught dead with any of those. They’re all pretty righteously militant about being able to handle just about any damned gun made and they bristle at the idea that painting something pink means it’s now the perfect thing for women.
SIG SAUER has taken a different approach. Women are now among the biggest group of new shooters and gun owners in America. And lots of them appreciate a product and approach that’s geared specifically for them as both new and female gun owners.
Their Rose program is “an all women’s program and pistol package” that’s built around their ultra-popular P365 design, chambered in both 9mm and .380.
They’ve put together an entire Rose ecosystem designed to make becoming a gun owners and getting proficient in carrying and shooting them. I’ve gotten one for my fiancee — a first-time gun owner — and she’s working her way though it. Look for more on that in the future.
While my wife liked the look of the pink revolvers I was thankfully able to get her to test fire a few. No complaints on the Rose line especially with it’s ability to draw in for visual appeal which can be almost as important as function for new shooters of the female persuasion.
