John Petrolino Named SAF’s 2024 Journalist of the Year

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Second Amendment Foundation’s Gun Rights Policy Conference in San Diego, John Petrolino was named Journalist of the Year Award by Second Amendment Foundation Founder, Alan Gottlieb.You can see video of the presentation here:

Petrolino, known as The Pen Patriot, was a featured speaker at both Amm-Con and GRPC this year. On Friday, Petrolino presented “From Blogging to Journalism-Bridging the Gap” at SAF’s Amm-Con. Also on Friday, Petrolino was nominated to the Board of Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

On Sunday, Petrolino gave a presentation to GRPC about the Prevalence of Systemic Racism in New Jersey Permitting. The presentation highlighted his work using Open Public Records Act (OPRA) research investigating the permitting dashboard data that lead to many articles.  You can see his presentation here . . .

When interviewed, Petrolino said he was humbled by the award, stating that GRPC is where colleagues become friends.  He also stated that the support of the Second Amendment community is what makes his valuable work possible. From tips received from community members, to the support of the state association, CNJFO, New Jersey Firearm Owners Syndicate members, and the NJ NICS Research Center, Petrolino said his work is possible because of New Jersey gun owners who are activated and support his efforts.
