In the End, It Doesn’t Matter Who Designed The FGC-9…It’s Already Out There

If you’re a fan of gun control, the NYSRPA v Bruen decision probably seemed like the worst thing to happen in decades. Not only did “may issue” permitting laws that often operated as de facto carry bans go away, but the decision keeps resulting in more and more anti-gun laws being struck down, seemingly on a monthly basis.

But the smarter individuals in the anti-gun crowd are finally starting to realize that something even more terrifying is going on: 3D-printed guns. After all, with enough work and luck, you can win elections, keep a friendly anti-gun president in office, and eventually re-balance the Supreme Court in your favor. Or, if you’re more unscrupulous, you could try to pack the court (expand it with a bunch of like-minded Justices) and then have them put the New Deal back together again.

But no string of political victories can fight something like the FGC-9. Even if you were to somehow bring Euro-style gun control to the United States, anyone can now build guns at home. In fact, people are already doing it all over the planet in countries where it’s illegal and severely punished.

Even more frightening for the anti-gun crowd, the FGC-9’s global appearances aren’t accompanying a global crime wave that could be used to justify the totalitarianism that would be needed to try to stop 3D-printed weapons. In other words, gun control is a dead idea walking, and it won’t be able to keep stumbling along for much longer.

What are gun control proponents to do?

They could pass laws against building weapons at home, but that won’t stop anybody who really wants one. That approach definitely won’t work in the United States, and it discourages home made firearms at best overseas. Criminals obviously won’t follow such laws, nor would people bent on committing acts of terrorism. So, the only people affected are people who already had no interest in firearms ownership.

This leads to gun control proponents having to do what they should have been doing all along: using persuasion instead of force. But, as we know, authoritarian thinkers can’t be honest and straightforward with people and present good arguments, largely because there are no good arguments to be had for authoritarianism. People want to pursue happiness; it’s a human instinct. So, they can’t very well tell people to stop trying to do interesting and fun things, nor can they persuade people that they’re better off disarmed and under authoritarian rule.

So, they have to instead use deception and manipulation to persuade.

Sadly, that’s exactly what I came across recently in a piece at The Conversation. Rather than trying to make the case that 3D-printed guns are bad, the author attempts to smear a popular figure who got the whole 3D gun thing rolling with the FGC-9. Also, JStark1809 died under questionable circumstances after a German police raid, so they don’t have to worry about him suing for libel or defamation (this is something anti-gunners learned the hard way when they smeared Kyle Rittenhouse).

According to the piece at The Conversation, a researcher dug into JStark’s online presence and was able to use some kind of analysis to link his identity to other accounts that never mentioned being into 3D-printed guns. Some of these other accounts are associated with the incel community, while others were racist bigots.

While not stated directly in the materials they linked to, it seems pretty obvious that the idea is to paint the whole 3D-printed gun world with the same broad, questionable brush. After all, if everyone who 3D prints guns is a racist, bigoted, incel sh!thead, who would want to get into that?

The truth is, though, that it ultimately doesn’t matter who put the team together that designed the FGC-9. Most people who want to have a gun for self-defense against criminals or tyrants don’t plan on being incels, and what difference does it make if they were bigoted racists? They could be fascist anarchists–that still wouldn’t change the fact that they don’t have the means of self-defense.

The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.

It wouldn’t matter one bit if JStark was everything these researchers claim he was. What matters is the legacy of the FGC-9 itself. There are more good people than bad people in the world, and we’re not seeing a crime wave as these guns become widely available. If anything, we’re seeing the opposite as guns are used for righteous anti-authoritarian causes globally.

No matter how the Gun Control Industry tries to smear the origins of the FGC-9, that cat’s not going back in the bag.
