This is What Tyranny Looks Like: With Ban in Place, Canada to ‘Buy Back’ Semi-Auto Guns, Donate Them to Ukraine

— Rebel News (@RebelNewsOnline) December 5, 2024

The Canadian government announced yesterday that they will ban 324 additional types of firearms, mosty semi-automatic long guns they describe as “assault-style” firearms. Not only are they banning their sale, but the government order also decrees that they can’t be used and their transfer or transportation can only occur under “extremely limited circumstances.” In other words, their possession has been all but banned.

That brings the total number of outlawed firearms in the land of snow and poutine to more than 2,300. According to the AP, “The federal government says it is working with provinces, territories and police on a planned buyback of prohibited weapons from individual owners.”

How nice for Canadian firearm owners. The far left Trudeau government, which has already clearly demonstrated its eagerness willingness to trample the individual rights of Canadian citizens, will be instituting what is, in effect, a mandatory compensated confiscation of the banned weapons and then using the booty they collect in the international arms trade.

Canaduh’s Minister of Defense announced the, uh, repurposing of Canadian citizens’ guns thusly . . .

As hoplophobic politicians love to do, the authoritarian Trudeau government used the anniversary of a tragedy to justify their further assault on individual rights.

Mass shootings are relatively rare in Canada, but the newly announced measures come on the eve of the 35th anniversary of the École Polytechnique in Montreal shooting, where a gunman killed 14 women before killing himself. The Ruger Mini-14 used by the gunman, Marc Lepine, was among the weapons included in the 2020 ban.

This seems to be a desperate act of a government in its death throes. The Trudeaunistas are spectacularly unpopular and will have to face the voters again no later than next October. So, they’ve apparently realized that they’re on the way out anyway, so why not play to its base’s most authoritarian tendencies and disarm as many Canadians as possible? Well, at least those who are willing to comply with the ban.

And so it goes.

  1. So, Canada is actively trying to disarm her subjects, just like Ukraine disarmed its “citizens” years ago.

We see how well that went for Ukraine when Russian forces poured over their border two years ago into a land of unarmed citizens. Canada better hope that Russian forces never pour into their land because Canadian subjects will be unarmed, defenseless, and powerless to stop advancing Russian forces.

Note: before anyone chimes in that Canada’s official government army will stop any such Russian advance, please explain how Canada would move their army to oppose Russian forces if Russia launches a surprise attack. Hint: trying to drive thousands of Canadian troops across the Trans-Canada highway system in winter could easily take several days or more. And trying to sail thousands of Canadian troops around the North American continent could take weeks or even months–assuming that Russian naval vessels graciously allowed those Canadian troop ships free passage.

  2. A Russian invasion, you say? Not able to defend ourselves you note! No, no, you have misunderstood the Canadian psyche. Our dear leader said nine years ago that we were the first post-modern nation because we had no core values. Having no core values, we have nothing to defend. So, in the face of a Russian invasion, many of us would simply hold up a copy of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, shake our fingers and tell the Russians to go home. Others, much more sensible, would head for the US: to Arizona, Florida and, if it’s summer, to Old Orchard Beach in Maine. We go to Arizona and Florida in winter. We’re not as stupid as the government thinks.

  3. Sorry Canadians, but you’re going along with being disarmed, so you deserve every inch of what’s conning next.

  4. Well, they already took their citizens’ bank accounts so they’re paupers. Might as well disarm them, too. Then they’ll be completely dependent on the government. And as for dumping confiscated (not “bought back”) guns to Ukraine, who’s going to use them, provide them with all the different calibers of ammunition, repair them, etc? Will they be given to Ukrainian military, militia, or civilians? Interesting that one might applaud the arming of another country’s civilians to resist tyranny, but that’s too much to ask for your own citizens. Thank goodness (and our founding fathers) for the 2nd Amendment. And, by the way, I pig hunt with a Colt LE 901 in .308 (~AR-10).

  5. Gun control is cultural genocide.

“Cultural genocide is the systematic destruction of traditions, values, language, and other elements that make one group of people distinct from another. ” Elisa Novic – Oxford University Press – 2016.

PAL and RPAL license holders are collectively described as “the gun culture”. It is meant to be derogatory.

Shooters of all sorts have common values. Tradition. Respect. Self reliance. Safety. Responsibilty.

    To all the non-shooters:

the Government is deliberately hurting us. Please help.
