Primary Arms just dropped a new optic, the GLx 1x MicroPrism ACSS Cyclops. The GLx is an update to their popular SLx optic and has a number of new features.
The GLx 1x MicroPrism is similar to their SLx model but in slightly smaller overall size, while still having a larger optical system. It uses side-positioned push button controls and has a slimmer profile than the SLx and provides less visual obstruction of your target area.
The GLx also has superior glass with better clarity. Probably one of the biggest changes is that the GLx has what Primary Arms says is “near unlimited eye relief, mirroring true reflex performance.”
The GLx sights use Primary Arms ACSS CYCLOPS reticle. It’s available in either red or green illumination. It has 13 Illumination settings including 3 Night Vision levels. The GLx uses 1/2 MOA clicks for finer adjustment than the SLx’s 1 MOA clicks. The ACSS Cyclops reticle has a large horseshoe to draw your eye to the center chevron, and has an auto ranging ladder for quickly estimating target distance. Primary Arms has some quick guides on the product page and more info in the manuals on using the ranging ladder with various calibers.
The GLx runs on a single CR2032 3V Lithium Coin cell battery and gives you 14,925 Hour battery life at setting 5. Coupled with the AutoLive motion-sensing on/off battery saving technology that should be plenty good for defense, hunting, or tactical use.
The GLx offers an impressive array of mounting options, right out of the box too. It comes with parts for 8 different mounting heights and configurations, “ranging from a 1” centerline for AKs and low-comb stocks to over a 2” centerline for night vision and ‘heads-up’ sight acquisition.”
I have an SLx 1x MicroPrism That I’ve been running on one of my 5.56mm builds for a few years now. it’s a great optic and I’ve had no complaints with it at all. It looks like PrimaryArms is still selling the SLx as well, and it’s about $50 cheaper than the new GLx series. It’s still a viable option if you want to save a few becks, but the features on the GLx do look good. I’d been considering getting another SLx for another build but at this point I think I’ll jump on a GLx instead to try out the updated features.
