Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT) has a long history of working with designers and custom makers to bring new and unique products to market. One of their more recent collaborations has been with Richard Rogers out of Magdalena, New Mexico. Richard is a rancher and takes that practical working experience and applies it to every day carry knives.
One of the latest products to come out of this collaboration is the CRKT 7060 Persian Assisted.

The Persian Assisted is a sleek EDC folder, with sweeping lines. It channels the Arab Jambiya dagger with its 3.44 inch upswept trailing point blade and curved handle. The blade material is D2 tool steel, and it comes with a plain, non serrated edge and has a discreet satin finish. The blade locks open by means of a liner lock.
The Persian’s glass reinforced nylon handle is ergonomically contoured and textured for a positive grip. Handle color is basic black, which never goes out of style. A deep carry pocket clip is fitted for tip up, right hand carry.
The Persians blade opens via a flipper on a IKBS ball bearing pivot, further enhanced with an assisted opening mechanism, That will allow for fast, easy, one hand opening. I’ve used other CRKT’s with this system and they tend to be at least as fast as most autos.
The Persian Assisted is a decent sized knife that should be capable of serving as an EDC utility knife, or as a defensive tool. At only a bit over 3 ounces it should easy to carry as well, especially with the discreet, deep carry pocket clip. MSRP is a reasonable $60.00 and it’s available now either direct from CRKT or from a number of online retailers.

Same thing happened to me after I read Stetzer’s article on those CRKT Padawan knives over at TTAG. I’m not much for trailing point knives like the one above, unless it’s a filet knife, but that Padawan drop point haunted me for 2 days. Reread that article 8 times, then bought 4 of them, 2 tan and 2 black for me and the daughter. Really nice tools.
