DGU Chronicles: Houston Man Disarms Home Invader Sending Him to the Morgue With His Own Gun

(courtesy CBS News)

“It happened a little after 9 p.m. when police said a total of three burglars targeted an apartment on Westridge Street near the NRG Stadium, when one of the two tenants inside the home shot at them.” That’s the report from Houston where a couple of people found themselves the targets of a coordinated home invasion.

According to Houston police . . .

HPD patrol officers responded to a home invasion call at an apartment complex at the above address and were told by witnesses that three males attempted to get into an apartment. One masked male knocked on the door while the two other suspects forced entry through a window. The persons inside the apartment called 9-1-1.

It seems the three doods weren’t exactly pros.

One of the suspects pointed a gun at one of the tenants, who knocked the gun out of the suspect’s hand. A struggle ensued during which the suspect pulled out a second gun from his waistband. The male wrestled the gun away form the suspect and shot him. The two other suspects fled the scene on foot.

The backup gun-carrying home invader has assumed room temperature while his partners in crime are still being sought.

As the HPD press release informs us, “The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and it was determined the case would be reviewed by a grand jury.” While you never want your fate in the hands of a prosecutor or a grand jury, we’ll go out on a limb and predict that — based on the facts as reported — this will be adjudged a righteous defensive gun use. Here’s hoping the tenants choose to acquire a firearm of their own, the better to be able to defend themselves in the future.
